Our first coop coming along! It's a 20' long A frame

The coop came together real well. still a few things to finish up (nest box, feed and water) but we did get her completed, moved on onto the lawn, and got the chickens inside. I was really happy how it did not flex, or have any issues when being pulled. I hooked straps on the front very short so as soon as I started pulling with my truck it lifted the front a bit. I have 5 acres of grass and I plan to move the coop onto fresh grass often. I will develop a good timeline so I do not kill to much grass, or overload with manure. I don't want to be leaving a brown patch of dirt behind every time I tow it forward. My plan is that by winter, i can have it up near the house and in one place when the ground freezes. Anyone else doing this?

I live on seven acres of woods. No grass to speak of, but if I had grass, this is exactly what I would do. Or call you as ask for you to build me one! Very cool.

efalls-- this is a learning curve-- I moved my shep every 2-3 days. Depends on stocking numbers and the growth rate of the grasses.

Good luck -- looks great. Congrats on a great job constructing a neat coop!!

@Arielle thanks! Right now they are cooped up with food and water. yesterday we put them in and tomorrow I will open the door and let them roam.
14 birds will have 150sq ft of run. I know that the breed of chicken and the types of grass, season, growth rate, all play into account. I plan to sort of do a huge circle and then end up back by the house for winter. I will winter-over in one spot.

@ScouterJoe I still think id rather have woods then grass. We rent this property so not much choice, but I feel like I am STARTING to take advantage of it. I plan to do a chicken tractor for meat birds on the save 5 acres, so all this grass wont go to waste!
