HELP PLEASE JUST A QUICK QUESTION ABOUT LAST EGG IN INCUBATOR!

Hi all I've just had 5 chicks hatch yesterday/this morning and now I have one left in the bator it has pipped right through and its beak is sticking out but its stayed like this all day is this ok do I need to do anything?

Ive done loads of hatches and they have always hatched about tbe same time this is the 1st time ive had one hang on longer

I've had chicks pip through the shell and stay like that for up to 18 hours before zipping. Make sure the humidity in the incubator stays high enough, so the membrane around the chick doesn't dry out and give it a bit longer.

If it has been that way for more than 18 hours it may be shrink wrapped and can't get out. In that case you will have to help it. GO SLOW! And always stop at the first sign of fresh blood and put it back in the incubator.
 
Thank you 6guys its been about 8 hours since the beak popped through the membrane does like its dried a bit just dont want to end up with it dying on me when its so close would it benwise to leaveng it til morning or later on tonight? Ive added some more water to the pot so fingers crossed I have the brinsea mini advance
 
I'd give it a bit longer and just keep an eye on it and the humidity. I've been in this situation before, decided to leave the chick overnight and sometimes woke up to a hatched chick in the morning, sometimes I had to wait a few more hours. Sometimes they are simply in no rush to finish hatching and I know, it's nerve wrecking, but put of helping it as long as possible. Yes thank you against my own sanity I am going to leave it til the morning and pray its still alive I hate that moment when you know you have already seen them churping then dying in the night fingers crossed for the little guy
 
Yes I am happy to report I now have a healthy chick hatched this morning so glad I waited didnt realise they can take that long sometimes just goes to show you are always learning no matter how experienced you

That's great! When I first started hatching I used to rush to "help" the chicks, not knowing it could take more than a day for a chick to hatch and that the pip we see does not mean the chick is ready to come out. I've sadly lost a few chicks due my ignorance and impatience. Now, years and many, many (too many) chicks later I still learn something new every now then! It's a wonderful hobby.
 
Yes im the same I was given a small incubator for xmas and ive never looked it fascinates me that you can do it in your own home I started poultry keeping about 5 years ago and ive never looked back it just grown into more and more which now includes ducks and quails my dream birds to keep are peacocks as we have the space for them and no near neighbours but my other half thi ks im set on the poultry aspect anyway thanks again for the advice
