I found an Emu and I am keeping him

His name is Frank and he belonged to a neighbor with 3 pairs who chased him away. Is it ok to feed him sunflower seeds as a treat? and I need all the info I can get on feeding and care. He is getting along fine with my chickens, about 40 of them.

Wow frank is wicked cute, good find, my emus eat mazuri emu mantainance mixed with a little sweet feed and they get fresh fruit( blueberries, strawberries, apples, grapes) and fresh veggies (spinach, kale, collards and broccoli ) everyday! Good luck with him!

is there any way to tether them so that he can graze out of the enclosure. the chicken yard gets tall golden rod and ragweed, but no grasses.

just hose him down on warm days, wading pools are too small and slippery

can I give him sunflower seeds. he loves them.

I don't know if they can digest the shells, most birds that eat sunflower seeds take the shell off, give him fruit treats, he'll be your best friend if you give him grapes or blueberries.
