When do pinnies usually start laying? Im in mn and its been a cold sping. There doing a lot of dancing and cherping. This is my first spring having them so she is a first year hen. I doubt she'll sit from what I've read. Thanks for any info.

Despite my hesitation to reply to someone who calls pintails "pinnies", no it's not too late for them to lay. They are among the most forgiving wildfowl when it comes to ease of breeding, so barring serious stress or improper setup they should lay.

A description or photos of where they are housed would help.

What i have is a 50 x 40 aviary, 10 foot tall chain link fence with netting over top. Both are able to fly but rarely do. I have some old hollow stumps im hoping shell lay her nest in. I do have a dog iglu they sometime hangout in too. I dug a couple seperate ponds for them, ones 2 feet deep, the others around 4. They seem to enjoy there set up. I like how there kid friendly. My 3 year old girl loves feeding them. Whats wrong with calling them pinnies ha i thought it was just a nickname ha my lingo may be off tho. Thanks for responding
