What size makes a nice flock? I have 12 hens and a rooster, but thinking of adding more. I have Amber Links so they don't get broody, so would be nice to have a few hens who can hatch chicks. Such a lovely experience to hatch and raise them I've heard. What size flock would you recommend?

It totally depends on the person and living areas. People who live in the crowded city would probably find that 2-6 chickens are ideal. While people who live in the far out country enjoy a flock of 10-50. But, since I like to keep my chickens tame and friendly and I only use them for eggs and companionship, I recommend anywhere from 3-15.

2 years ago I would have said that 6 was perfect.
Last year 11 was a really good number.
This year - apparently - 21 is just the right size.
LOL!

It really depends on the space available, the amount you can afford to expend on your flock, your goals/purpose in having the birds, etc. The right size for one person will likely be too big or too small for the next person.
