Sadly, our goose who has been sitting on a nest for about a month has had her eggs stolen. We aren't really sure how, as she is in a secure nesting box which is locked when it goes dark. She is still sitting despite having nothing to sit on!

I was wondering whether it is possible to buy a few day old goslings for her, like you can do for other animals, is this possible with geese or will she simply reject them?

Thank you for your help!

Be worth a try, geese seem to love babies so this may work. When introducing stay very close by just in case you need to rescue the goslings.

It will most likely work. I incubated some goose eggs last year and when they hatched, substituted them for the eggs my goose had been sitting on (that didn't hatch). She and the gander were very happy with them. I have heard that you need to slip them in at night, however that didn't seem possible for my situation so I just kind of gently stirred things up so she would get off the nest, put the goslings in and she came right back and was happy to see them.
Hopefully someone else will also share their experience with you.

You could do this, and if she´s sstill broody she´s more likely to accept them quickly. You´ll know, as she´ll lift her wing for them to climb under. the more difficult part is getting the goslings to see her as mum at first. Just keep an eye on them. they´ll soon learn that she is warmth and comfort, and it should work out well.

Thank you for your help, I think we will definitely give it a go, but make her pen a little more secure! Thanks everyone!

This year I had a goose setting. Something got her eggs as well. I brought 5 babies. I didn't give them to her for fear of what Lydia said. But when she hears them she runs near their pen.

That's what we'e doing now as well with our 2 adults and our week old goslings, letting them get to know each other daily but keeping the babies inside till to big to eat. Let us know when yours finally get to adopt. and of course pics.
