I have 24+ Largefowl Langshan hatching eggs. My birds are bred towards the American Standard of Perfection. While I am unable to show much due to work responsibilities, my birds continuously place high in the Asiatic class and often take both Champion and Reserve Champion Asiatic as well as Champion Largefowl. These are large birds and take approximately 7-9 months to begin laying eggs. Males grow very large and stately however I have never had one be aggressive unless hens are being messed with. They are a calm breed and good for both meat and eggs. I do not AI my birds and all are naturally fertilized. I cannot guarantee hatchability due to the treatment of the post office however I have had my own hatches with 90-95% success.

Please find below photos of my actual breeding birds as well as photos of past birds that I have bred from. The eggs pictured below are mine as well. There is no such gene as the "Purple egg gene" so please do not ask me if they lay purple eggs. The Langshan was bred to lay brown eggs however some may have a tint from the cuticle that makes them appear purple.

I ship via Priority USPS mail.

I've bought a couple of her blue Langshans, and I have to tell you they are some of the most gorgeous birds I have in my flock. VERY high quality and very sweet temperaments. They're egglaying machines, too.

Thank you Kyzmette! I'm glad yours are working out for you! My mentor always said "nobody could go wrong with a Langshan!" At the shows they are definitely an attention grabber!

Your birds are gorgeous. I'm a beginner this year and got my Langshan chicks from Tractor Supply, not knowing any better. But I fell for their feathery feet and I love them. I'm sure they won't turn out show quality, and they are mostly shy. But I have 2 that are very blue, a roo and a pullet, and 2 that are irredescent black, also a roo and a pullet, and the other two are somewhere in between. I'm still working on getting them used to me. They are 10 weeks old now.

This is my blue roo. Even if he doesn't turn out well, I'll always love him. He will sit in my lap and eat out of my hand. The others just started eating out of my hand a little bit.
But I'm very interested in learning about the breed, and getting better quality ones next year. It's hard for me to tell because they all seem to have their own personal difference in shape, while still clearly looking like Langshans. The little black pullet is the smallest and barely has any tail feathers at all, while the black roo has quite a tall tail to tell. The blue roo has less tail, but I'm wondering how he will shape up. To be honest, I don't want to cull any of them. They're my first chicks ever! But starting next year, I'd like to seriously get eggs or chicks from a good breeder. If these I have now don't turn out well, then I'll keep them for layers and for general love.
Do you think you might be selling eggs or chicks next spring? I'm not set up or prepared to set up to hatch chicks on my own. But I'm devoted to learning more about these lovely birds and getting better quality birds next year. Any advice you have will be very much appreciated. I've never shown anything at a show, but for Langshans, I want to learn!! Billy is the black roo. Razzle is the blue roo.

Hello Grammi! I've seen your chicks on the Langshan Thread! Thank you for the compliment. As for selling chicks, I do not like to sell chicks as once they are hatched I have to watch them grow to cull through them.

However, if you are able to come to the Shawnee Poultry Show in SE Oklahoma, I would be happy to sell you some started birds?

Here's a pic of my chick I PM you about. Let me know if you think it's a Langshan chick. Also a new behavior I saw in her tonight, she was pouncing around like a kitten messing with the other chicks. Thanks for your help!
