Ideal is cheaper... They have surprise pullets and black sex links for $1.75, and barred rock pullets for $1.60. (must also ship today)

15 at Meyer: $41.70

Now at Ideal the minimum for the special is 25

25 at Ideal: $54.50 (or $50.75 if you got the barred rocks). That's including the shipping and small order fee ($7 if less than 100 chicks).
25 at Meyer: $$65.75 (so we can compare apples to apples)

So for $10 more than what you would pay Meyer for 15 chicks, you could get 25 barred rock pullets from Ideal.

Ideal has other great specials also. Bantams only $1. each + shipping is 25 for $35.75. That is what I am getting. They also have specials on ducklings and meat birds and straight run.

Yep. I got 25 of the bantams, too. I picked the feather legged ones, hoping for a good amount of silkies! I also got 30 barred rocks. They shipped Tuesday night, so they should be here this morning! Last week I got goslings and meat birds. The goslings were actually not on special, but their system let me order it the week before when they were out, so they gave me the special price for the next week.

It seems just about each week they are having some really good specials. Last week the meat birds were $1.35. This week they were $1.30. Bantams and straight runs, $1. The ducks were $2 or $2.25. Two weeks ago they had turkeys for $4.65. The goslings were $5.45.

Their shipping is extremely cheap, too! $7 if you order less than 100 chicks (or 80 ducks). Then 15 cents per chick, 20 cents per duck, 28 cents per gosling. My last box, with 14 goslings and 31 meat birds, I paid $8.42 shipping (plus the $7 box fee). The postage on the box said it was $31!

Mine shipped yesterday. I ordered feather legged also. I especially like silkies and cochins and porcelain d'uccles. They have some good specials for this coming week also. Surprise special pullets and straight run, black sex link and barred rock pullets, Cornish rocks, and bantams.

I'm trying real hard to ignore your last line... I have nearly 150 chicks under 2 weeks old right now. But those are great deals! I have Cornish Rocks I'm going to sell for meat, as well as I got a bunch of barred rock straight runs, going to use the pullets for eggs and the males for a heritage, slow-grow meat bird to sell. I really want to buy some more meat birds, too! ha! But I think I have enough right now! But their prices are so good - $1.25 this week for the Cornish Rocks.

My birds came this morning, but several of the bantams were dead on arrival. Now I'm down 10 bantams, 3 barred rocks, and several more that don't look good. The package was delayed at the post office, and from what the clerk said, someone from another post office drove it down this morning, instead of it arriving on the normal truck. I think he must have had it on the front seat with the air on. But Ideal is going to make good on it - told me to let them know tomorrow how many total, and then whether I want a reshipment or a refund.

I've had 8 batches come in this year - 4 of them from Ideal, and this is the first time I've gotten dead chicks.

Sorry to hear you had some DOA. Mine arrived this morning. All 27 are alive but one has a bad leg and had a pasty butt. They are mostly cochins. It is a very nice assortment.
