I know this sounds crazy, but I am either missing an egg or a chick. I had 5 eggs under my hen, Rudy. Three have hatched. When Rudy got up, I noticed that one egg is still intact, and two eggs are broken into two pieces and empty. To be honest, I have no idea what happened to the other shells. Did she eat them?
I know that no snake/predator got in and got the eggs as she is in an enclosed room in the coop. I have looked and felt all around the pine shavings, both in the nesting area and the small coop area. I also know that all five eggs were viable as my husband and I candled them on day 14.
Anyone have a thought about the missing egg/chick?
