4 month old Olive Egger. Hasn't tried to crow, yet.
I'm bummed. This is my fav chicken who's the biggest scaredy at of the flock. I've thought on and off that's its a boy, but held out hope. It's illegal to have a roo in my area. My neighbors would also not permit crowing. This sucks.

I'm hoping a friend can take him. She's got 11 hens and no roo. He always sits in my lap and cuddles his head into me. I'm keeping him until he crows and I'm 100% sure. :(

Looks like a roo to me too. U can try to keep him though. I keep my cochin roo in an area where Roos aren't allowed. I have a crate set up in the garage and every night he gets moved there. Because it's so dark, he never knows when it's morning, so he doesn't crow. Then around 8:00 I take him out and he only crows a couple of times throughout the day. I figure as long as he isn't waking ppl up in the morning, it isn't a problem.

I may have to try that. My other chicks are bonded with him and so am I. I'm so mad at the lady whom I got him from. She swore up and down they were all hens and that she had sexed them at a day or two old.

When people sex chickens, there is never a 100% chance they are male or female. You just can't be completely sure. That's how I ended up with my roo. I bought my chicks from the local feed store and the bin said "guaranteed pullet". Well I found out how true that was.

Well, last week he crowed and has every morning since. I found him a great new home that he's moving to tomorrow.
