We lost our female bar-headed goose ~2 months ago and we'd like to replace her. Her mate of 5+ years was devastated when she disappeared but he seems to have adjusted to the loss and is ready for a new partner. The pair will be sharing an 8-acre pond with 2 black Australian swans, 4 Egyptian geese and a trio of pekin ducks.

Yes, I still have the gander. (Love him!) Am still searching for a mate.

I have the same situation, somewhat my male canada goose he is imprinted on me and thinks i am his mate and he will be turning 3 years old this april and i am hopeing he may just go and pic the young female canada i got for him. I got a 2014 giant canada pair from a breeder in my state he had lots of giants and even trumpeter swans. I wanted my canada to breed once with my domestic Toulouse goose. I would like some hybrids. I bought some ducklings last spring and i hatched some and when i brought them home my canada instinctively bonded with them i thought he was going to attack them but instead cared for them protecting them from my other birds. and he did a good job my geese learned to stay away from him when the ducklings were out. It was so cute. I have asked around on here what I should do to make him mate with the females and someone suggested confining him with a chosen female so I might try that once the ground thaws.

I would ask mnwaterfowler or mnwaterfowl here on bwc and message him he lives in minn. and i was going to buy a par of bar headded geese from him in 13 but changed my mind and just went with woodducks. i wish i would have went with the bar heads. i love geese. I got a pair of white fronted geese this fall and iam selling my pair of swan geese.

Wow, can you tell me where you saw this? I've been searching for a long time!
