My broody hens were setting on four guinea eggs. I came home from work to find three baby keets, and one empty shell. What happened to the forth baby keet or egg? Does anyone have any idea? The girls are in the coop with four other chickens and eight guineas.

Sorry to say but it probably got out and died from chills or other hen. Another possibility is the chick is caught in her feather. Hope this helps.

I have had rats eat baby chicks, usually will only happen within the first few days when the hen does not move much. I've also had them steal eggs from a broody hen.

they sometimes fall and die if there is a ditch somewhere.
It had happened to me that a chick got stuck between the fence and a large box.

I don't think there is any way for a snake or rodent to penetrate our coop and run especially with 8 guinea fowl on high alert! However, anything is possible and there is a missing egg mystery so I guess we'll never be able to solve it! Thanks for all the input. It so interesting to hear others experiences.
