Gender of Purple Peachicks

In the interest of full disclosure, I know what gender these chicks are because they were DNA tested. However, I could have sworn I knew what they were before, but it turned out I was wrong. I based my thoughts on some pictures posted on this site. But maybe I am missing some key part. They are 5 weeks old. Does anyone want to tell me why they believe they are one gender or another?

Color novice here, but I would say #2 is a hen due to the lack of barring. #1 could be either... I had one like that last year that I could have sworn was male, but it's bars kept fading. So my official guess is two girls, but it's just a guess. Great looking chicks what ever they are!

I was SURE that I either had a male and a female (chick 1: male, and chick 2: female) or if I was wrong about that they were both female.

However, the DNA test came back as two males.

Turns out I can't sex peachicks.
