A friend that lives down the street has red golden pheasants and offered us all his eggs. So we put them under a broody hen. On june 20th last year, one of them hatched, but of course wr had mixed old english eggs with them and couldnt tell. He turned out to be the only pheasant to hatch and only one old english hatched. So they basically raise theirselves together. We tried hatching them in the incubator this year 4 times, and every single tims they died before they hatched! We experimented the humidity as well. Our chickens hatched, but no pheasants. The first batch made it up to tne last few days, the second one was a little farther behind, and the third batch had mostly infertile. This most recent batche 's chicks only made it to around the 7 dah mark. What are we doing wrong?
We decided then that from now on we will hatch under a silkie, but of course, egg laying is done.

What temp are you using? What is your humidity? How do you store them before you set in bator?Do you turn them while storing them? Are you using a still air bator or does it have a fan?

For temp and humidity, we highered it slightly above the average chicken humidty and set it normal chicken humidity. Xd I think its 45 hu, 99.5 temp. Not sure because I dont set it.

I do know that we put them in open egg carton and we put a book under one side and flip it a couple times a day to turn them. And yes, im pretty sure the inc has a fan. Its the.. ugh! I forget what kind but its yellow and black and automatically turns. but it holds 24 eggs and has automatic humidity.

The humidity seems too low.About 55-60% seems to work for me.Sounds like you have a brinsea incubator. If so,it should be a digital setting so you would be able to see what your temp and humidity are.Pheasants are touchy,,they have nothing in common with hatching chickens other then the 95 degree temp.I don't think the book trick is helping, and if it automatically turns them why do you need to flip them from side to side?
How do you store them? They should be stored in a cool area and turned 3 times daily.Yes!even during the storage they need to be turned.

When I said we were turning them, that was in storage xD. Yep brinsea. Okay, yeah, maybe the humidity was 50 at most, but we were trying chickens along with them xD ill tell my family that it needs more humid. Because the guy we get eggs from said that he had no problme, but it was a styrofoam bator and he added water and turned them himself.
