Thank u for the prayers i really appreciate them. My dh is improving every day and my 10 mth old son is also doing well. The more I research this the more confused I become. I am afraid to have people at my home even after disinfecting everything. I just don't want anyone else to go through this if in fact it was our chickens. I am also feeling extremely guilty because I pushed for getting them. We haven't ruled out the possibility it could have been from the pond we visit daily and has tons of Canadian geese or the fact that it could have been some undercooked food or contaminated water. My son is always crawling on the floor and eating dust bunnies so I'm not surprised he has it but dh doesn't do anything w the chickens so it's strange to me that he would have been infected but I do realize one of my other kids or myself could have tracked fecal matter into the house some how even though we try to be careful. Idk

You're welcome. Glad to hear that your husband is improving and that your son is doing well.)

Well the board of health called today and it turns out my son was actually infected first and due to the incubation period of the infection it's most likely he contracted this while we were on the last few days of vacation. Dh most likely contracted it through diaper changing and now my other two yr old son is exhibiting symptoms. Thank u for all the well wishes and prayers. I am so relieved that this was most likely Not caused by our girls. We will be more aware than ever about proper husbandry and handling. It is a huge relief. I was told the CDC is able to narrow down the actual strain of bacteria and find out what type of animal was the carrier. She said that we may not be able to locate where we picked it up but if there are any other confirmed cases she will let us know. I guess it's more common than salmonella. We did visit a water park and a petting zoo type farm so who knows. Thanks again for the prayers. Talking about this helped calm.me down.

I am glad to hear your family is pulling thru this. AND it was not from your birds! That would be pretty scary to think you got this from your chickens.

I hope everyone continues to heal.
