I have this idea... it would be really easy to pick up a small used window a/c unit (I just found several on CL under 50 dollars) and duct the cold air into a rabbit hutch. You'd want the back, sides, top, and part of the front of the hutch to be wood, and only have wire on the bottom and front, to get the best use of it. The fan would provide airflow even if you didn't need the air cooled, and the wood construction would help hold a little more heat in the cold winter days.

What do you think?

I'm thinking of doing the same, but with a more adobe type home (portable) with a window unit and a portable cattle panel run. Now that we have some land, it would be nice to have a setup that lets our rabbits graze all they want. But, I worry about just tossing them outside as they've been inside rabbits their whole lives and this state has pretty extreme weather changes.

Solved. I know exactly how to make this work, but it's a little silly and probably overkill. Basically you build an over-frame around the hutch / cages, and wrap it in shower curtains. The a/c is ducted in, and keeps rabbits frosty. If I ever get enough free time (and a free air conditioner) and build one, I'll be sure to post pictures!
