LOL... My family calls me The crazy chicken lady..
Heck, I say blahhh... Im having fun, they are earning enough to pay for all the feed, scratch grains and hay they need.... And to boot, I get to fire up the incubator and do this all again, When she came out she asked how many eggs my bator would hold.. I told her I knew it would hold 42 with the turner, not sure without...asked her why and she asked if I would fill it to capacity, that her and her mother will buy every chick that hatches, put enough down that I wont freak if she backs out.. She then walked out back and bought a rabbit too lol....

I had to laugh...the fellas at Ace Hardware all call me that, too! It's like "Oh no...here comes the crazy chicken lady again!" It's a hoot!

My mom once stopped randomly at a small house hidden back behind huge bushes and privacy fencing out on a back road to ask the owner if they would sell some fertilized eggs from their chickens.
My mom and I had seen them from the road and thought they were beautiful so she decided to stop and ask.
The owner was thrilled that my mom liked her chickens so much and said she would give us as many as we wanted for free if we hatched a dozen or so for her after we hatched some for ourselves first.
They were just mixed breed backyard layers but they were gorgeous and very well tempered.

I use to laugh and call her a crazy chicken lady....but then I started raising mealworms in my house for my chickens and I started bringingmy favorite chickens with me to the pet store and feeding them mealworms on the checkout counter while showing them off...I out chicken crazy my mom daily...

My older sis lives in Oklahoma and has just gotten chicks this last spring, They are almost ready to start laying and I was telling her of m experiences, she is looking at getting an incubator also because her pullets are all sexlinks and the chance of a broody is pretty low.. So we talk several times a week and there seems to always be something new to discuss about caring, raising and breeding them.

I posted ads n CL in the past looking for fertile eggs and surprisingly get absolutely no hits.. I don't understand, you know there are so many out there like me who have barnyard mixes.
