I have a wild mallard duckling that belongs to a mama mallard who lives around my backyard... she is quite comfortable with me and has allowed me to help... this little guy is very injured. His entire right leg is stripped of skin and feathers and the tendons are showing. He does not seem to be bleeding very profusely, everything seems clean but there is a little bit of bleeding. He seems shocked, but otherwise seems okay enough to survive.
I can't take him to a vet, as I live in Florida and I believe it is against the law (I could be wrong.) I have cared for wild injured baby ducks before, but never cared for one with an open wound. Please help! How do I treat the wound?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
