I have been in denial because she is so sweet and lets us pick her up, but my kids say she is never going to lay eggs...Boy or Girl?

May we see a picture? It is very difficult to tell at this age especially with Australorps (You can sometimes tell with colored birds or sex linked because the male is either a different color or he has more to his plumage.) Does he/she have other chickens he's being raised with that are the same age? Cockerel's will be bigger comb growth sometimes will be bigger, hackle feathers start to develop, sickles also start to develop. Sometimes the best evidence is when it crows.

It would appear that that row of icons is missing from my screen. I will poke around and try to fix it. I bet the Australorp hacked my computer so I would not find out the truth!! :)

I finally had to use my phone! Boy or girl?

Boo Hoo!!! He is so sweet! I don't have any other Australorps and don't want to breed him... He's HUGE by the way. I don't know if this is a bad thing... Where should I post him for sale or trade locally aside from craigslist? I don't want to eat him...he's just too tame and would make someone a good rooster if they needed him since he is not mean.

Can you not keep cockerels where you live? If he's as tame as you say you might be fine. Roosters can make as great as pets as hens if not better. It's definitely obvious it's a cockerel
