Hi,

So we just got 14 chicks delivered 1 week ago. They grow bigger by the day and at first were very tolerable of human contact and did not mind when we would come into their stall. Now they are very tentative and will run away when we go in to feed the etc. Hate when we try to pick them up. Is there a way to tame them/socialize them so that they enjoy human contact and are not so dubious of our presence?

Our birds were the same. Keep on, they'll come around. Here are some tips to speed things up.

1. Feed all treats (especially mealworms (if they're old enough) out of your HAND!). Give them some feed out of your hand too.

2. Talk to them when you're bringing food. They'll associate you with food. Good thing.

3. You need to hold them regularly. They resist a little at first. But our birds love to be held and petted.

Good luck to ya!

Love on 'em! They'll love ya back! Our birds know what the bag looks like and sounds like! I shake the bag and they come runnin'!

Happy chickens to ya!! :yiipchick
