Hi all,

New to the site and looking for chicken experience. We've had this hen since it was 2 weeks old. The only one of the initial four we bought. We lost the other others during their first 4 weeks. We have since picked up a couple more to give our girl Dorothy some friends, but am now worried she might start to crow one of these days. As I'm not allowed to have roosters in the city and had to give away one rooster already this summer. I'm not going to just give Dorothy away if she's a rooster. I'm going to carry her up to my aunt and uncles since we have an attachment to her.

What does the BYC say? Hen or Rooster..

Thanks for any advise..

Edit: I forgot to add age and other probably pertinent information.

I'm not sure of the breed, easter egger is what I was told, but have no other info. As for the age, we were told 2 weeks when we bought her and that was first week of April. She should be closing in on 6 months old.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried, because she has the little beard thing going and kinda mimics the behavior of the first rooster we had. I will admit I know little about chickens, this is our first go at it. We are finally getting eggs though. Our RRR started last Thursday.

Thanks again..

Beards and muffs are a VERY common trait with EE's, both hens and roos. Pointy saddle feathers and large pea combs are usually the dead give away with EE roos (pointy saddle feathers with pretty much every other breed of roos too), or of course if they suddenly crow, but hens have been known to crow as well...lol
