I have a peahen that has been plucked by my stupid dog. She got in her pen to do it- well can anyone tell me what to do for the peacock- do i put vasoline on her skin to keep it soft - how can i help her. I cant even imagine how painful that was for the chick shes about 12 weeks. I also have about 35 hens and roosters that she has harassed, but omg, not this. I'de be very thankful for suggestions

For wounds I've used neosporin also, helps with healing. Make sure it is clean and watch for any signs of possible infection. If infected, antibiotics will need to be sought. Otherwise, it should heal alright on its own.

You can always check with your local farm supply for free advice, they probably have a poultry section that would work out for a peacock. Maybe they have some sort of pain reliever for the poor thing. You could also call a vet and maybe get some free advice. Good luck with it. And of course you know the best cure is prevention in the future. I'm sure you don't have to be told that. Be careful, these poor animals rely on you to protect them. They are all domesticated and can't hardly fend for themselves.

Thank you so much guys and yes i will get rid of dog if it ever hurts 1 of my birds again and she lost her freedom from the other dogs and is chained to a tree. and the peacock gets to recover in a cage in the guest room-lol. I still cry everytime I see her. My daughter isn't real fond of that dog right now either.

aaawww thats sad. I hope you didn't take what I was saying as me being mean or anything. I just wanted to point out the obvious but it sounds like you definately have it taken care of. I'm sure your little peacock will be fine and it will grow up to be big and healthy.
