Eggtopsy *GRAPHIC PICS*

The whole time I was doing the eggtopsy I was talking to the chicks. I was saying things like "almost there baby" and "just a bit more" didn't even realize I was doing it till my daughter commented on it. One lesson learned is I know how to careful peel the shell off without breaking the membrane so if I ever have to assist a chick I know how, or at least am confident on how to do it.

Sounds like their food is good. The pullet eggs are a problem because the size limits available nutrition. I don't incubate LF eggs till they get to 55 grams.

The pullet egg is the one that made it the longest. The other eggs were not from pullets. They came from a flock that is about 2 years old.

I know that hatching out pullets eggs are a crap shoot. All of the eggs currently in the bator range from 52 grams to 56 grams. This timed I weighed all the eggs.

I downloaded the excel sheets that are on here somewhere. I used both the egg details and the incubating chart ones. This time I'll have detailed records. Plus when I start my Lemon Cuckoo Orpington project I'll need those records. Training myself now to keep really good records.

Rainier, when storing your most recent batch of eggs on your counter, did you rotate them while in storage? I wish you the best with this new batch. Will be following your progress. You take wonderful pics.

Yes I did. They are in an egg carton. I prop up one side at 7 am at noon lay it flat and before bed prop it up on the other side. The other thing that I did with this batch while in the incubator was I turned them three times a day and at night I moved the eggs over by one egg placement in a circle so they are going around the incubator. So by lock down the eggs have traveled around the incubator at least once. No egg stays in a hot or cold spot longer than 12 hours. Which in a spike will not help but I think it helps on a regular day.

Wow what a heart break. I just locked down eggs this morning. We saw a couple moving last night. I hope this doesn't happen with all of our eggs. Even if only one hatches we'd be happy. My daughter would be heartbroken. What kind of things cause this so late in development? this is our first attempt at chickens in general so I don't want to do anything wrong to the babies.
