I have 2 young barred rock pullets around 11 weeks old they are outside in the coop all day and night but I still have a heat lamp inside the coop at night, I'm not quite sure when they won't need one anymore. I recently regimes my 2 Ameraucana pullets bc they were aggressive and flighty. I am trading a guy for 2 1year old buff Orphington hens. I know laying hens need different feed than the young ones. How do I keep it separate? Do I need to keep it separate? I also have the best boxes blocked off bc I didn't want the youngsters sleeping in them at night. If I unblock them will they get in there and make a mess preventing my 2 new hens from laying in them? HELP!!! New to chickens.
