Only new at this so expect a lot of sometimes dumb questions. I have been told that a little iodine in the drinking water is beneficial , can anyone verify or debunk , thanks fellas.

Not beneficial at ALL. If you want to give your girls something beneficial to their water, put some ACV (apple cider vinegar) in their waterers.
