Anyone know where I can buy straw online?

Hi everyone! I didn't know where to post this, so I just did it here....

I'm thinking of switching my pet rabbit's bedding to straw. They live inside, and they currently on fleeces and towels, but I want to switch to something more natural, straw.

At the feed store, they only sell chicken pedding, pine shavings and pellets. I use something called "koop clean" (I think), and I was going to use it for my rabbits, but the person at the company said he wouldn't because of the grit in it or something like that.



So, does anyone know where I can buy straw online? Bales/bags/ I don't really care, but as long as it is good quality and won't get my buns sick.

May I suggest you look for 100% GRASS hay (some call it cattle hay) on your local Craigslist instead of straw? It's a lot softer and beds better for small animals and since you will presumably be cleaning the cage in your house more often then a barn stall grass hay will be fine, and you should not have any mold issues... Also when the rabbit does eat some (they will) it's not pure low grade roughage that might cause digestion issues... Just avoid any of the hays with other things like alfalfa and clover as they crumble to dust real fast if they are used for bedding...

Around me small grass hay bales (about 35-40 lbs) can be found on Craigslist for about $3, and that is a lot of bedding once fluffed up...

Okay thanks! I already buy them bales of timothy hay to eat in their litterbox, and I'll just buy an extra one for bedding! :)
 
Are you talking the little bags of Timothy hay or full bales, the little bags you get as food from the pet store are way to expensive, get bales locally for bedding... You don't need a premium hay like Timothy for bedding, much cheaper to just get whatever junk grass the local farmers are baling for cattle...
 
I buy the big 100lb timothy bales meant for horses (about $25 a bale).

My rabbits enjoy it way more than the pet store hay.
