I inherited an older friends father's nest boxes--8 hole galvanized (I think) metal. Most of the removable bottoms have rusted. I thought it would be simple to replace the bottoms...After a lot of internet searches, I realized that I was wrong!

Here is a pic of the bottom. They sell lots of similar bottoms, but with out the hook at one end. Does anyone know if these old ones can still be found somewhere?

Thanks for any help!

any sheet metal worker should be able to replicate them. If you have several, the per price would come down. You could rent a brake and probably make some acceptable ones yourself. You could make something passible with just a tin snips and some pliers.

Hmmm, will look into renting a brake. Thanks for the word--I knew the tool, but didnt know the name. I made some temporary bottoms with some thin plywood, but only on the bottom row of boxes...not entirely positive that a chicken wont crash through from the top row.

Would you use aluminum sheets?

I'd go with what the boxes are made of. Sounds like they're sheet steel so I'd go with galvanized sheet metal. Just something thick enough to hold shape but easy to bend.
