Budgies!!

There are endless things you can do! They love mirrors, swings, bells, anything shiny or crinkly, etc...Be careful not to use anything they can peck apart and choke on (small bells, mirror paints, etc.) I also enjoyed using creative foods as toys. Wrap some treats or seed in a squash blossom. Fruit garland. Larger bells to roll around. A stick from a fruit tree. Shove small treats in a pine cone. Colorful, glass beads on a wire on the wall of the cage / enclosure held horizontally (think tiny abacus.) Also sticking edibles in a plastic cat ball so they fall out when played with. They love looking at themselves, so mirrors are one of their favorites! They're curious, so as long as they can't hurt themselves, they'll pretty much love it! You may want to limit your use of the color red though, they will peck at it, but it's more an alarmed or nervous pecking than playful or curious. Have fun!

:highfive: . I was wondering on that too because our house is always kept at 60F. But I did some research on ways you can keep them warm and I found out that a Happy Hut works well to keep them warm. It is like a hammock that works like some sort of blanket. I am working on one right now and I made one earlier. I made my own pattern. I will post a pic. ;). These are really warm, they just warm up with me holding them so with a budgie they will be plenty warm. Just when they get cold they just climb in! If your feeling crafty I can send you the pattern.
I got one of the insulating window curtains they sell at target. I was really impressed with the difference it made with one of my few single panes windows, so I drape it over their cage at night. I keep my house at 68 at night though. Any colder then that with or without the curtain and they are puffed up in the morning. Mine hate the city huts and just end up pooping on them, lol.

Good idea! Yeah, huts aren't for every bird.
