So, i live on 2 acres in the city, and totally love geese, but my mom thinks they will disturb the neighbors. We do have roosters and ducks that love to quack pretty loud. Here are my questions:
1) How loud are they compared to a female duck and a rooster?
2) are they quiet at night, or do they make noise at night?
3) How do you keep them quiet at night?
Thanks for any help. Also, will 2 boys do good together? They will be pets and weeders, i don't really care about eggs.

Short answer...CRANK UP THE VOLUME!!!!!! Geese are/can be very very loud. They will honk to greet you, honk to alert you, honk to communicate with each other, honk, honk, honk. I have three Toulouse geese (a male and two females), 22 ducks and 22 laying hens plus 8 Bantams and 7 roosters in a bachelor pad pending being sent to freezer camp. The geese are easily 5 times louder that the ducks all quacking Christmas carols in unison with chickens doing egg song. However, when I put them up at night (in their pen behind a closed door) I do not hear a peep from them unless something comes around their pen. But, during the day.....

A rooster's crow can be way more piercing than goose honking, but it depends on the individual rooster.

In my experience, people are rarely rational about noise. That goes for me, too. I don't really notice my one neighbor's loud roosters, pigeons, and partridges. To me, those sounds are like rain and wind. But when the other neighbor leaves his radio on outside, even at a barely perceptible volume, it bothers me a lot. I can't tune it out and I hate it.

My guess is that geese won't contribute much to the objective noise level of the ducks and the roosters. And if your neighbors are good with the current noise level, chances are they won't be bothered by the addition of geese.

When I let my geese out every morning they are screaming bloody murder, I don't call it honking it's actually screaming. Makes me very thankful I don't have close neighbors My 4 geese are 1000 times louder than my rooster. Only problem is living on a river makes noise carry so those across the river are probably hearing their loud noise too. So far none have come here and complained.
