I found a mason jar glass at the dollar store. It has a metal, checker board printed lid and a straw hole. I put a washer on a wire, and then made a loop. I filled it with a battery power strand of LED rice sized lights. The box has a timer.
Switch it on the first day at whatever time you want it to come on again, and then it is on for four hours and off for twenty. Then back on again... repeating daily.
It hangs from a hook high in the coop.
