Loud Mouths

I clip both wings. I thought about just doing one but I think it wouldn't be effective enough. I cut about half of the feather off and round the overall end of the wing. They don't look too bad that way. They do grow out pretty fast so you have to do it about every month. Haven't had one to fly out since I been trimming their wings.

Our guineas are generally quiet. We have 14 (9 males, 5 females) and the only loud one is the dominate hen. And that's only when somebody's where they're not suppose to be. The only time they all make a ruckus is when they see a predator, air or ground.
We have ours fairly tame, they follow me around while I work and quietly peep and sing their happy song. They're fairly easy to catch and they don't bite or kick and they'll let you hold them as long as you want.
We clip the flight feathers on only one wing and they pretty much stay put, but if they're scared they can fly and roost on their coop that's 5ft tall. We like it that way so they can get away from predators, as we have a lot of them around here.
Good luck

I made a muzzle for my loudmouth female and she didn't make a sound . . .until she raked it off! It stayed around her neck and for a day to two, she didn't holler as much but now she is back to her usual squawking if she has anything outside of their yard space. May try to revise the design of the muzzle.
