How many chickens can I keep?

I have a coop that is 14x12 with 12 nesting boxes and about 70 feet of roosting poles. I have attached a run that is 14 feet long 6 feet high and 10 feet wide. I also just added a run along side it that is 6 feet wide by 24 feet long and adding another 8 feet wide by 12 feet long.

How many chicks can I house? I do let them free range on occasion.

The purpose is we keep 8 year round for eggs and want to raise as many as we can to sell.

Oh plenty then. He wants to get about 34. 30 to sell throughout the year for extra money and four to keep each year for eggs. So 34 is ok with some free ranging scratch corn daily and half of run is in woods/ under trees and gets alot of bugs dropping etc.

Sorry for such a short answer before, got a phone call,hit send idk why. What kind of birds will you be selling? The max I mentioned was the max for full grown egg layers. I think it may cost more in feed, oyster and grit than the chickens can give you a return on. I'm curious about your plan. I personally have never raised birds for sale so wondering how it will work.

We get them for a dollar each have always successful raised em on lay mash and he gets 10 to 12 per hen. After time and all he isn't making money just learning responsibility. We sell em at 4 months or so. We d ok reds buffs and black ousterlops

If you are selling at 16 weeks, why are you feeding laying mash? You'd do better using a grower ration and/or all-flock type feed as laying feed is not appropriate for birds under laying age. ETA - if the birds are all housed together with your laying birds that you keep simply offer free choice calcium (oyster shell grit, as an example) for those birds that are actively in production.

Meant to add - selling "point of lay" birds (as you are doing) is a great way to support one's poultry habit - so many folks prefer not to much around with the pesky brooding stage and want to get birds that will give instant return with eggs.
