Hello Everyone!

Simply Feeds is the home of high quality non-gmo feeds for livestock and poultry. We are located in New Lebanon,Oh right outside of Dayton. We currently have five poultry feeds with one more being finalized. We are in the process of opening our business to the public. We plan to have our feed for sale the first week of May. We are trying to reach out to our neighbors and inform everyone that we will be opening. If you are interest in our feed we are taking pre-orders to make sure our supply meets our demand. Since there using a commercially available concentrate ( poultry 50 ) I'll assume there using soybean meal. Basically (depending on who you talk to and the type of soybean meal) its the byproduct of making soybean oil, is a higher in proteins and lower in fats than whole roasted soybean.

Some mills use the term "bean meal" its a poor choice of words since there are other types of beans used in a feed mix.

I would like to see a little more info on a feed if I was in the market in a new feed.

Crude Protein, Min.
Lysine, Min.
Methionine, Min.
Crude Fat, Min.
Crude Fiber, Max. Calcium, Min.
Calcium, Max.
Phosphorus, Min.
Salt, Min. Salt, Max.

Also with todays high production pullet and hens a 15% protein just isn't going to cut it.
My feed for adults is 18 to 20 percent protein minimum.
 
I looks like they will be using a premix from one of the national feed companies to manufacture their feeds. I believe the 44/35 is from Akey/Cargill if I remember correctly.

The information on the sales sheet listed will not suffice for a legal tag. The items required to be listed on the tag are outlined by the standards outlined by AAFCO and state feed regulators. I wish Simply Feeds LLC good luck, the feed industry is a tough, low margin business.
 
We send samples out of every batch of feed made then the results determines the tags which will be available april, the bean meal used is non gmo soybean meal abstract (generally chemicals are used in the process of enzyme release when making soy oils which also depletes most of the fat count in the soy meal, the soy meal we use comes from a chemical free supplier) there is only a few of these suppliers we have to be on a 45 day waiting list to get our claim is why we are researching the demand and yes some things come from a commercial non gmo blend but that is to lessen the price for the consumer. Being we are not opening our doors until May and not accepting money for feed until that time we are not required to show tag results. So this is a demand and supply search.

Good luck with your analysis and certification.

There are several extruders running in the Eastern Cornbelt but the non-GMO requirement could be an issue. I have a customer in SW Ohio selling non-GMO corn and soybean meal to their customers that seems to be working well.

I have just found a feed source in shelbyville IN Liberty Feed and Bean Meal.
They are non GMO roast their corn and make their own bean meal in house.
I was having trouble getting my hens to lay. When I switched to their feed even my older hens are laying.
I love that there is non GMO more readily available now.
