Help! first time hatching!

These babies were very sticky, they need a lot of cleaning. High HUMIDITY and low temp usually causes sticky babies. When they were late, something right there tells you something is wrong and surely there was. One baby was just Floating Litter floating in water. He wasn't sticky just covered with fresh water. Of course, he was already gone needless before we got to him.

I must mention this cute story on the one. LOL I laugh just thinking about it. We pealed him back all the way and she sends me a pic, she says he's still has yolk, I was like dang it OK get him in a cup. Cup for exposed yolk seems to help since it applies pressure on that area to help them absorb faster. Well she tells me, he doesn't like the cup, he keeps jumping out. LOL

Now if anyone has ever dealt with exposed yolk they are very weak and sleepy. So I had a feeling something else was going on, I asked her to send a pic of his vent. LOL, he was fully absorbed, and ready to go. He was fighting her to get out of that cup and go see his brother and she was fighting him to stay in that cup. LOL. Finally she gave up and he got to join the other one. Just kind of funny thinking about them two fighting because I'm sure we have been there. LOL

Mistaken yolk..

LOL...poor duckie was like "Why do I have to sit in this cup and HE gets to play????NO FAIR!!!"

It's very sad, but I'm not surprised, and I'm very sorry about the losses. If I read the thread correctly, the eggs were incubated for 24 days at 65% humidity, and 19 of those days they were upside down. Maybe if the humidity had been lowered drastically for a couple of days they would have some some moisture, but I doubt it.

This thread was started on 2-5-15, and maybe if more people had seen it and replied, someone could have asked about temp and humidity. At that point the op could have reduced the humidity and possibly saved more.

FWIW, I lost half of my eggs once because I incubated them at 47%. All were alive at day 26, but died shortly after, and like the OP's, there was tons of fluid when I opened it.

Perhaps the next time anyone here sees a similar post they will ask these questions:

  1. What day were they set, then explain that day zero is the day they are set.
  2. What type of incubator (fan or no fan) - Then explain that incubators with fans are set at 99.5 and those without fans are set higher (102, I think).
  3. What temp?
  4. What humidity?
  5. Are they set pointy end down or on their side?
  6. Turning manually or auto?
  7. How many turns per day?
  8. Is your incubator clean?
  9. Are your eggs clean?
