I have an 8 week chicken that I am sure is a hen. I brought it and was told it was an Amerucana but it is prob an EE. It has green legs and a yellow single comb. I don't know what the parents were. Do you think it will lay a coloured egg or a brown egg? I am worried the single comb will mean it lays brown eggs.

To my knowledge, the comb has nothing to do with the egg color. If it is an EE, there is still a possibility she will lay brown eggs. They can lay brown, white, blue, green or pink. You won't know until she starts laying. Most of my EEs lay green eggs. One lays white eggs.

It's an EE for sure... green legs and single comb are big flags... pea comb is USUALLY paired with the blue egg gene, causing green eggs, but not always... I have single comb EE's that lay green... the only way to tell is when she starts laying, sorry there is no other way to tell with EE's...
She is beautiful, tho!! :)

X2 on RavynFallen's post. She is definitely an EE, but with the single comb the odds of eggs any color other than brown are poor. I hope she turns out to be one of those exceptions. Good luck.

Pea comb is closely linked on the DNA with the blue egg gene, so pea combs are good indicators of blue or green eggs. It's not 100%, as there are pea combed breeds that lay brown eggs, and the straight combed crested cream Legbar lays blue eggs....but with EE it's a pretty good indicator.

Myself, with the clean face, blue color, and straight comb, I'd just call her a mixed breed bird. If she happens to kick out a blue or green egg, call her an EE. Where did she come from? I'm wondering if she's someone's attempt at an Olive egger, although to get an Olive egg you'd still need a pea comb.
