HELP! ROOSTER IS LIMPING!

He said he could also give me pain medicine, but that he thought it would be quite difficult for me to administer to him, and that he thought he would be fine by the end of this week.

FYI if the meds don't taste bad just sneak it in a bit of tasty food. For some meds, like wormer, I have also injected it into a pinky mouse (I have a freezer full of pinkies for my snakes). The birds love those pinkies and it is a sure way to make sure they got the whole dose (without anyone else getting any).

I think any name brand buttermilk is fine. Interesting about the Ivermec, I figured that's what it was. I'll be interested to see if it kills all the mites, (if he has them) SINCE the mites do lay eggs and the young ones hatch later.

Wish we had a poultry vet here that charged reasonable prices. We're lucky to find a vet to treat them at all. But I could probably get our regular vet to let me have a syringe ful of Ivermec, so that's good info.

Glad to be of help, Chickmania. His leg seems fine today. I was letting the hens out to free range so he wouldn't be tempted to chase them around to mate with until his leg is fully healed, and wouldn't you know, a horrible stray yappy dog almost got our beautiful hen Ishtar Aurorabelle yesterday! He was an escaped canine some idiot had untied, but my smart girl found shelter in a thorny bush under a woodpile and escaped his clutches. She was in shock but seems okay today and is now laying an egg. I guess her beautiful blue tail feathers won't grow back until after she molts next November. I'm sooo mad! But at least the rooster seems okay and so does she, so it's a blessing they are all right.

That's good news.

My Rooster has been limping now for 3 days I think he hurt his foot or bruised it when he jumped down off the perch. I've been putting some cream on it dint feel to hot any suggestions? ???

I really don't think he has mites or bumble foot. Should I be putting him in a pen away from all others until he's better?
