My 6 month old RIR rooster Pedro has been standing on one leg and walking with a limp for the past 4 days but it has gotten steadily worse. It has gotten to the point where he will just stand in the corner not wanting to put any weight on the leg so he hasn't been eating/drinking as much as usual. He still is able to get up and down from the roost without any sort of help and he will eat if food is placed somewhere he can get it without moving. When I looked him over to see if I could find anything unusual the only thing I could find was that one of his nails on the lame leg had a sort of blood spot inside of the nail. The nail itself is not loose and it is not cracked or chipped from what I could find and there is no blood anywhere in the coop or run. Could his nail have been bruised which is what is causing him to limp? If his nail is the problem, is there anything that needs to be done in order to have it heal properly?
