I noticed today the rear end of this chicken. As I looked more closely, I noticed it was leaking a white discharge. I turned around, looked back and there was now a broken egg on the ground underneath her. The shell was super thin and floppy like a wet noodle. Any ideas? thank you!

Welcome to BYC. Is your hen on layer feed with access to crushed oyster shell for extra calcium? Make sure she is taking that to help clear up the thin shells, which can be common in new layers. Bring her inside, clean up her vent area with soap and a shallow warm bath. After drying, trim any excess fluff around the vent, and examine the area for any red area or whitish patches that could be vent gleet. Start her on some probiotics in her water, and add some apple cider vinegar to her water if you suspect gleet. Nustock cream from a feed store is good to apply to the vent for gleet.

Thank you! She is on the feed and has access to oyster shell. I'll do the other things recommended. Thank you!
