Hi from the U.P. where hell has frozen over! I have a question maybe one of our long time chicken farmers can answer. I had a white leghorn chicken I had to bring indoors. the other chickens are pecking her head something awful. we had brought her in a few days last week because one of them pecked her comb and she was bleeding. Got it pretty much healed and put her back out. Last night had to take her out again. her head has no feathers and she has peck marks on there. I watched them for a while and when she is eating they peck at her and she just scrunches down and waits. So we brought her back in. this time I put her in our chick stock tank so she would have more room than the kennel. I'm almost certain she is blind. she just walks through her food dish and will try and walk over her waterer. I put my hand right by her eyes and she doesn't flinch. All this to ask...she makes clicking noises, do you think this would be so she can use sound to find things around her? I plan on keeping her in this time until her feathers grow back and she is healthier. Do you think they will leave her alone then? I'm worried now. I hope it will soon get above zero so I can let them outside for a while.
