I am new to the chick world so I may have lots of questions!

I have 5 chicks that are 2 weeks old today. We are having a warm spell and it is supposed to be 85 here tomorrow. Can I take them outside during the day? (I will of course protect them from predators) Or is it too soon to eat weeds and bugs and whatever else they may find? So far I have only fed them chick food, no grit (which I just read about - didn't know they needed so early)... does that matter?

Thanks!

If they are protected from predators you can put them out at this age during the day. Just don't forget them because they are not feathered enough yet to keep themselves warm.

I have some planter boxes that I built that are empty so I plan to use those upside down (they are about 9" tall and lined with chicken wire.
