In the breed section of BYC, it says the following about White Plymouth rocks:

likes attention, lets me hand feed, lets me pick him upHuge, hardy, feed thrifty, good foraging, excellent & long layer, good mothering instincts, broody but not too much, beautiful addition to any flock.

You still haven't posted as to how old your chicks were in the pictures? I thought CX because they grow so much faster than egg layer breeds. Sometimes TSC doesn't sell all the chicks each week so, they have some that are older chicks in the store too. Maybe the employee was right and you do have layers and all is good : )
 
Good than they probably are Layers not CX. If they were larger than the others they had, they probably were week old chicks when you bought them. Three week old chicks should look like your picture of them.

Yes its dirt not its color :( i was hoping it to be hen but if it is rooster than why not mating with pullets ?? Is he/she at its right age to mate??
