Hello from Nevada, I am a new member although I have always come here to find information. At the moment I am looking for some new additions to my coup, specifically silkie bantams, or others that are the best brooders. Please get ahold of me if you have any info, as always I cannot wait to learn more

Silkies are an excellent choice if you are looking for a broody breed. Other good choices would be brahmas, orpingtons, and cochins.

Put "Silkie thread," in the search box, and you will be able to post your questions where silkie breeders will see them. Silkies can be phenomenal broodies, but, not every silkie will want to brood chicks. Silkies from hatchery stock generally don't look like the SOP and may have broodiness bred out of them.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. If your looking for good brooders, Silkies are the very best. They will sometimes spend weeks trying to hatch a golf ball.) Our Silkies raised a number of broods for us. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your Silkies.
