Hello
I have 1 rooster.. 6 hens in a large coop /run.
I have 7 young (Feb. born) hens in a smaller coop/run next to the other coop/run
They are separated by fencing.. can see each other.
Questions..
1: when can they be allowed to mingle?
2: feed ... younger still on grower ( want to use it up) .. will this hurt the older (on layer)
3: should I have two feeders when they are all mixed in?

Didn't notice too much commotion yesterday when they were near each other.
Thanks for your input.

Your pullets will be sexually mature by June, probably. Possibly sooner or a little later. Ours have safely mingled with our older flock at six or seven weeks, but they are usually with their mother, who protects them. If you want to be safe, wait til May or June, then let them mingle, but watch that the rooster is not too rough with the young ones. Our alpha rooster, and our mature roosters, will not look at the young pullets, but sometimes the cockerels can get rowdy with them, so that's another thing to consider. If your rooster is older, and quiet, that helps too.

Yes, I'd get a second feeder for that many birds.

It won't hurt the flock to eat a little grower, you can continue giving it to the pullets til it's used up, but if the older ones eat it, it won't hurt them. It also will not hurt your pullets to eat a little layer, even if they are not laying yet.
