So now I completely understand when you folks talk about chicken math.

Last March:
me - Hey husband, they have chicks at the tractor supply!!
husband - NO!
me - but...
husband - NO no no!!!

Last April:
husband - Hey, they have chicks at the CountryMax!
me - ok...
us - Yay, we have 6 chicks!

Last August:
husband - they sell the chickens at the State Fair!
me - really?
husband - I want a rooster!
us - Yay, we have 2 new chickens and a rooster!

September:
(1 chicken and the rooster disappear)

February:
husband - When do they start selling chicks??
me - I dunno, I'll look it up

March:
husband and kid - Guess what we found at the tractor supply!
me??
husband and child: DUCKS!
me ??!!!
us - Yay, we have 6 ducks!

(3 of which have died. not so much yay.)

April:
me: I think i want different chicks than they have at countrymax.
husband: buy 6 now and then order some. But I think you'll have to get 15.
me: no, I don't want 21 new birds.
husband: :(

This afternooon:
me: time to order chicks! I see that I can order just 6. That sounds good.
later: 8 hens and 1 rooster ordered.

Chicken math will definitely get you! 3 years I ago I started with 12 chicks...I now have 41 chickens and 6 ducklings!!!

Tee hee segeine besides the sad bits, very funny!

Just over two years ago we started out with 2 little bantams gals, that was all we were going to have.

We didn’t know chicken math existed

5 hatches later and numerous coop and run renovations/extensions, we now have six!

We have reached critical chicken mass if we wish to remain ‘legal’ which is probably a good thing.

However, there is always the option of moving

You know how houses have ‘reason for sale’:
. Owner moving interstate
. Deceased estate
. Mortgagee in Possession
. Downsizing etc

I am surprised ‘Chicken Math’ is not up there!
