Hi all !
Greetings from Southamton , UK
I had until yesterday a small Serama hen with two four weeks old little chicks, running free in my back garden during the day .
But something has happened because the hen is nowhere to be found .
So I've just assumed that she must have been taken by a stray cat or a fox .
As the two chicks are nearly all feathered and the temperatures outside are quite mild at the moment , I have decided to live them in the coop along with their dad .
Later on in the evening on the same day when I went to the coop to have one last look to make sure that they were okay , I couldn't see them at all !
When I looked up to the pearch to find them under their dad !
How amazing that is !! I was so pleased to find out that the rooster took the mother hen role in order to keep the chicks warm .
Anyone know if this is a normal behaviour for a rooster ?
Never seen that before !
Thanks
