Can anybody tell us the name of my little boys chicks?

The guy you bought them from has no idea what he's talking about...

Firstly, Spitzhaubens are not bantams.

Secondly, those were not spitzhaubens. I have two of them, that's not what they look like. The comb is all wrong, and so is the "hair".

still looking into what you ended up with-- it's a weird body type, more like a guinea than a chicken...

I thought they looked like young Spitzhaubens! They don't look anything like adults quite yet, but if you Google images of Spitzhauben chicks these definitely fit the bill. At the very least they are Spitzhauben mixes.

Mixes maybe... But the comb of a spitzhauben is really weird looking, and doesn't look like that.

And those chicks are barred or partridge... Spitz look like someone took a round paintbrush with black paint and dotted all over a white chicken.

Here's a picture of a Spitzhauben/Brabanter mix that I saw similarities in:

Adult Spitzhaubens (gold version from Greenfire pictures, silver from MPC pic):

Silkie mix is also a possibility. My thought was that as Spitzhaubens are a rare breed and not commonly sold, if the seller said they were they probably are -- or at least have some Spitzhauben blood. The chicks don't look like the adults so it would be difficult for the seller to mistakenly think they were Spitzhaubens by Googling images.

Just my guess :)
