my rooster Debby did this to two of my hens....obviously i need to do something about his spurs but there under 1 inch long....

im debating on clipping or twist and pulling. the twist and pull leaves a shorter but sharper spur behind, clipping leaves a longer but blunt cut spur behind. opinions?

So twisting it off leavea a softer spur? Itisnt it still really sharp thio? It looks sharp

Yes it's soft and rubbery. After some time it will harden, but then you can twist off that outer shell again.

I'd let your hens heal completely before letting them mingle with your rooster again. It doesn't take too long, maybe 2-3 weeks. At this point their wounded skin is still fragile and easily re-injured.

After the despurring and healing, there hasn't been any more skin damage...although they still have bare backs. Bought them some hen saddles to help with that.
