I have a rooster chick (5 weeks old) I need to find a home for on Long Island. Does anyone have any ideas or know of anyone?

Good luck. I tried to get rid of mine when he was a chick but nobody would take him (I didn't try very hard because I secretly wanted to keep him) and now he's a year old, causing issues and I am again trying to get rid of him

Your best bet is to cull him while he's little and you don't have a lot invested in him. You'll be lucky to find anyone who wants a roo, especially in the city.

Put him on CL or some other local sales network. Print fliers and hang them at all of your local feed stores. Put him on Facebook sales sites. There are lots of options. I don't have much of a problem getting rid of excess roosters, especially if they're cheap or free (I usually advertise ornamental breeds for sale though). However, most of mine go to my free range bachelor coop so they can grow out on bugs and grass until processing day (which probably isn't an option for you if you are in the city).
Just best not to ask what the new owners plans are for him if someone comes to take him home...
Good luck.

We are in southern California, have 2 chicks ( now roosters) we need to rehome... From what I read this might be hard to do, but they are pretty and mostly feathers so would not be good eating. Thanks for any info....
