Pipd's Peeps!

Here are the newbies! :love They're already picking up eating and drinking from the week-olds like little pros!

And in hatch order, individually:

Almost had my first tragedy. I went to do my evening cleaning and refreshing of duck water. I had been out probably about 30 - 40 min. when I got behind the chicks area and saw more feathers than usual - happened to look up and one of my crele cockerels was stuck in the integration fencing. 😭
I ran around to the coop area because it looked like he was sandwiched between the little coop and the fencing. I moved the coop and he didn't fall out. So, then I noticed he had wedged himself in with his wings stuck. I was able to free him.
He was scared and not wanting to move. I checked him over and I couldn't find any issues. Just a small scratch on his beak. I put him in a small crate with food and water while I finished my chores.
I also moved the smaller area away from the larger coop so that the Littles can't get stuck there again. I plan to take it down, but I also need some fixtures in there that the cockerels can get away from now when needed.
Plus, I need to get their actual area set up so they can move.
When I was finished with chores, I checked on him and he was fine. So, I put him back with his buddies and watched to make sure he could get around.
I just don't know how long he was stuck like that. 😧 He doesn't even have a name yet!

Oh my goodness, glad you noticed and got him out of there! Chickens sure have a knack for finding ways to harm themselves, don't they? :th If he was acting fine so soon after you rescued him, no limp or letting his wings droop or anything, then I'd suspect he wasn't there for very long if that's any consolation!

Right. I was like buddy, what have you done!
I figured he must not have been stuck too long. He was chirping a little when I was sitting with him before I put him in the crate. It melted my heart.
He came out fine this morning as well.

That's two of the three chicks that hatched yesterday in the incubator. The third had a bit of a splay leg going on, so I've kept it inside in the brooder with the older chicks. She has one chick that she incubated under her as well, just hatched this morning and still sleepy, and one more egg that should hopefully hatch soon. :fl

I can't stop staring at them :love

Okay, so I'm a bit of a baby talker with my birds, and maybe I make some squealing noises with the babies when they're being extra super cute. Well, that may or may not have happened while I was taking those pictures, and then I turned around and noticed this in the doorway of the coop--all four of the other hens judging me. 🤣
