Thank you all for the great tips! For now I think I'm going to stick with the paper towels. I find that it's easier to 'spot' clean all their little poops since I can just roll up the dirty p towel and lay down a new one. They're only going to be inside for a few more weeks so I think we can make it! The brawny pt's are holding up great.
Update: So I've switched to the pine shavings! They started being their little dinosaur selves and ripped the paper towels to shreds! It was too much of a mess (who would've thought!) and I was spending far too much time cleaning up after them. I put cardboard around the outside bottom of the pen so they can't scratch all the bedding out. It's working great! I also added a new roost for them and they seem to love it!
